About Me

I'm Jeff and I'm a 50+ year old software engineering burn out from Florida. I mostly work on government contracts today, but I've worked in some interesting places. Probably my favorite so far was being an Adobe AEM/CQ Developer at Nike while my least favorite is anything mortgage and banking in the 2000s. I had a few of those too.

I'm an Army Vet from the 90s and I'm genuinely not outwardly political, so you won't hear me talking about it much but I'm pretty liberal. I have nothing but support for what makes you happy. Life is too short to not live it the way you want. So if you're gay, trans, straight, undecided, alien, or furry, I fully support you. As you can imagine living in rural FL as me means I have 0 friends that want anything to do with me :)

If you're here, you probably came from the link I put on Bluesky. It's the only social media I've kept after deleting all the things causing me mental health issues lately. If you want to interact with me, it's probably the best place to do it. I have a couple YouTube accounts (one even with 2k subs), but I'm reluctant to share them. I plan on pulling everything off of them and moving to a self-hosted solution later. Plus, I hate YouTube and everything it's become. I wrote an article about why and put it here.

I'm a scanner or have ADHD (I don't know which)

I have a billion hobbies, but I tend to always stay with a few while hopping through others. My life is a blur of guitars, 3d printers, gardens, chickens, fishing gear, fpv drones and gaming consoles. I've always assumed I was just a jack-of-all-trades types scanner who got bored easily. Lately, after watching some Tik-Toks I think I might just have ADHD. I seem to relate to quite a few of the videos, but I never really deviate from a few things that are at my core.

I'm a musician/songwriter

I have been all my life. I live literally in BFE and have a 10x20 shed that I retrofitted to be a studio. There is some rack mounted gear and amps tucked away in there along with an electric drum kit. I play everything I need, but I'm just average (see paragraph above :). I have an album on Spotify/Apple music where I go by PlasmaTrout which is an old gaming moniker. I also keep my candidate mixes and demos on SoundCloud so don't pay for them if you don't have to. I do it for fun. The genres are always rock, metal and electronic rock, but I like a lot of stuff. I just write rock naturally. The rest is a challenge.

I'm a gamer and sometimes a streamer

I mostly play PS5 and XBox Series X. I do stream sometimes and I used to have a YouTube and Twitch dedicated to it, but I deleted those and started again. Some things happened to me that were odd enough that I moved. I only had a few followers, so it was little to no impact for them 😄 I have an article coming up soon talking about vaguely.

I love Cyberpunk, Horizon, Uncharted, Tomb Raider and Starfield type games. The open world style is really my jam. I also loved the RE2 and RE3 remakes, the plagues tale series and SOMA. So a good story game can really capture my heart. I LOVE me some games with a strong female lead too. I'll play it if it has one. Cassandra Pentaghast is my spirit animal.

I play large Battlefield type games too, but only with friends nowadays. If someone wanted to group up and do a Ground War or even a Warzone map, I'd do it.

I'm a creative

I love writing, visually creating and making videos/content as well. I'm not much of an artist, but I get crazy layered visual ideas from time to time and supplement with Adobe Firefly. I know it's a bad word to mention AI imaging, but I feel like it's the quickest way I can get an idea out of my head. I'd love to commission artists for all the BS ideas I come up with on a daily basis, but I'm not made out of that kind of money. 😄

Of course, I have a novel, many screenplays and a music video in progress all the time. Will they see the light of day? lol probably not. But I LOVE doing them, so I won't stop.

I fly FPV Freestyle drones

It scratches the skateboarding itch I can't scratch at this age. The need is unbearable to me sometimes. I don't know why. I never really was a good skater in the 80s. I couldn't do a good kick flip. I just really loved the creative medium. Freaking weird I know. I know I promised no YouTube, but heres me flying if you want to see it.
